Environmental Transformation of Historic District, Kitay-Gorod

Development, Moscow, Kitay-Gorod, 2022

Context

A developer began a large project in the historic city center.

What we did

We developed an art research of the territory and a programme of interventions.

Result

A three-year roadmap for cultural programming with stakeholder formats.

  • 3 years of cultural programming

About the project

One of Moscow's largest developers began implementing a large-scale project in the historic city center. The territory had high cultural potential but had remained closed and transitional for decades. The task was to create a new image of the district before construction began, through culture, not advertising.

Details

Instead of traditional developer communication, a model of empirical art research of the territory was proposed. A multi-level program of urban interventions was developed, including site-specific sound installations, immersive theater and neoclassical concerts in intimate spaces.

Outcomes

A three-year roadmap for cultural programming of the territory was developed with audience group breakdowns. Stakeholder engagement formats were created. Communication strategy and monetization model through b2b networking proposed.
