How we made the festival in Zheleznogorsk
How we made the festival in Zheleznogorsk
Together with Metalloinvest we produced the Transformation festival, a project about changing how people perceive the urban environment and finding new points of attraction.
I thought a lot about this year's theme. I wanted it to be connected to iron ore, and decided that "Attraction" would sound great.
What mattered to me as a curator
Not just to decorate the city, but to create a platform for dialogue between artists, residents and business. To bring together the local context and contemporary art practices.
Main projects and practices
Drawing on the local context, Misha Most and participants created a three-dimensional sculptural canvas based on the city's flora and fauna.
Mila Khatsuk and Darya Nazarova, together with residents, made a mosaic of iron ore, the material that defines the city's look.
Street artist KOSH held a sticker-bombing workshop. Hundreds of stickers made by local residents came together into a single public art object.
Dan Subbotkin presented the installation "Nest", a biomorphic form with techno-organic light.
In the "Horizon of the Future" lab, mentored by Eldar Ganeev, local artists created projects about memory, technology and digital culture.
The music brought together styles from indie and electronica to a brass band. Svidanie, nttrl by Nastya Kudryavtseva and Discours Synthétique by Viktor Kudryashov performed in the city for the first time.
Business programme
A networking hub where artists, business and the administration met. Pitching and a mentoring lounge where new ideas were born. Seminars on how art changes cities.
Thanks to Metalloinvest, our big team and all participants for creating this space of the future.
